KUSTEC "cooling for a green future"
KUSTEC, as a leading provider of cooling concepts for hydrogen refueling stations, offers solutions for the future of long-distance mobility.
Our special expertise lies in the cooling of hydrogen using natural refrigerants. With our innovative technology, we contribute to the energy transition and support the use of green energy in the future.
KUSTEC cooling systems utilize natural refrigerants to ensure effective cooling for hydrogen storage and transportation. We rely on natural refrigerants such as carbon dioxide (CO2) or propane (R290), which have a low greenhouse gas potential compared to synthetic refrigerants, thus contributing to a reduction in CO2 emissions.
The proven KUSTEC technology is used in various industries, such as the automotive industry or the energy sector.
Our goal is to make an active contribution to the energy transition and the use of green energy in the future. With our innovative technologies and our commitment to sustainability, we set an example for a forward-looking and environmentally conscious energy industry.
As a company with many years of experience in refrigeration technology and a high demand for sustainability and quality, we are the ideal partner for customers seeking innovative and reliable solutions for hydrogen technology.
We invite you to learn more about our technology and our company. Please feel free to contact us to find out more about how we can support you.

The World of Hydrogen Cooling Systems
Author: Dr. Quentin Meyer
Launched by Martin Schreiblehner in 2006 in Freundorf Austria, Kälte- und Systemtechnik GmbH, or KUSTEC for short, has positioned itself as the leader in customized cooling and refrigeration systems. Since a first project in 2008 with one of the largest industrial gas manufacturers in the world, KUSTEC has grown its activity towards hydrogen cooling, which currently occupies between 50 and 60% of the company activities. We sat down with two sales and project managers at KUSTEC, Mohamed Koubassi and Florian Lechner—to discuss this exciting technology, what makes KUSTEC unique in the field, and the future of this exciting hydrogen revolution...
